Cycling... Different things to different people. Over 5 million UK residents cycle on a regular basis, myself included. Each and every person cycles for their own reason whether it be as a mode of transport or a leisure activity (or even a mix of the two).
Why do I cycle? well, I have grown up with cycling, in my teenage years I was massively into dirt jumping - the adrenaline rush is mega! Since then I have become older and wiser (and too scared of injury) so have taken to road bikes - Interesting fact: Cyclinguk.org say that statistically cycling on the roads is as safe as walking whilst riding a motorcycle is 3.5 times more dangerous than either! Anyway, I cycle for the adventure, I love to get out in the fresh air and stare into the English countryside, the sense of achievement after a long ride is amazing and it makes me feel ultra energized. If I go 3 or 4 days without a cycle I can feel myself becoming tired out. I also don't use a cycle computer that I can see during the ride because it takes away from some of the enjoyment (I used to find myself constantly racing myself when I had one). Instead I put Strava on my phone in my back pocket so I can see my stats when I get back home. Have you ever thought about why you cycle? Comment Below!
